Ramapo ZIP Code Directory Coverage
Seven postal labels are documented in the Town of Ramapo record map. They are delivery geographies, not town or village boundaries. The Town Hall uses a Suffern postal address, while the Town's registrar and election geography reach places with other ZIP codes. Treat each code as a useful starting point for standardizing an address, locating a post office, and choosing the right parcel or civic map. A current address should still be checked in the official postal tool and in Rockland County GIS.
| ZIP | Documented areas or labels | Post office or postal city | Record-search note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10901 | Suffern; parts of Airmont and Montebello; Town services | Suffern Post Office | Town Hall uses this postal label, but Ramapo extends beyond Suffern. |
| 10931 | Hillburn | Hillburn Post Office | County polling material places Hillburn in Ramapo election geography; verify the parcel or village line. |
| 10952 | Monsey; parts of Airmont and Chestnut Ridge | Monsey DDC | Postal place does not settle town or village jurisdiction. |
| 10970 | Pomona | Pomona Post Office | County polling material identifies Pomona in Ramapo election geography. |
| 10974 | Sloatsburg | Sloatsburg Post Office | The village has separate government functions from the Town. |
| 10977 | Spring Valley, Chestnut Ridge, New Square, and parts of Hillcrest and Viola | Spring Valley Post Office | One ZIP spans several place labels and is a central municipality mismatch. |
| 10982 | Tallman postal label; Airmont mailing use | Tallman | Documented as a PO Box-style municipal mailing label, not verified street coverage. |
The USPS ZIP Lookup can search by address, city and state, or ZIP. Its result standardizes postal information but does not confirm that a named person or company is at an address. The official coverage table supports place identification, not a household roster.
Ramapo Postal Labels and Town Lines
Postal city, town, village, and legal parcel are separate labels in Ramapo. The Town was established in 1791 in Rockland County, but an address may sit in the Town and also lie in a village such as Airmont, Chestnut Ridge, Kaser, Montebello, New Hempstead, New Square, Suffern, or Sloatsburg. Hillburn and Sloatsburg are separate village labels. The delivery line helps mail arrive. It does not decide the municipal office that holds a tax parcel or local record.
The local mismatch is clearest in 10977. It can identify Spring Valley, Chestnut Ridge, or New Square. A search restricted to Spring Valley is therefore not necessarily limited to one municipality or village. Monsey 10952 can reach Airmont and Chestnut Ridge geography, and 10901 is both Suffern's postal city and the Town Hall's mailing label. Airmont's official mailing address uses Tallman 10982, which is a useful clue but not a parcel-boundary substitute.
Note: County polling-place material helps orient a ZIP and place label, but a polling-site ZIP is not a boundary map.
Search a Ramapo ZIP Code
A ZIP code can narrow an address search, but the available tools do not produce a ZIP-wide resident list. USPS confirms the delivery format. Rockland GIS accepts an address or tax ID, then provides parcel and district context. Ramapo's assessment roll is read through annual PDF files or office inspection and has no structured ZIP filter. VoterLookup asks for a particular registered voter's name, date of birth, county, address information, and ZIP. It is not a browse tool for an entire code.
- Enter the full address in the USPS tool and save the standardized postal city and ZIP as the delivery clue.
- Search the address or tax ID in the Rockland GIS Base Map. Record the parcel, section-block-lot, municipality boundary, and district context.
- Read the appropriate Ramapo assessment-roll PDF or inspect the parcel at the Assessor's Office. Preserve the situs and mailing lines separately.
- For a specific registered voter, use the state form with the required name, date of birth, Rockland County, address information, and five-digit ZIP.
- When a street is identified, move to the Town of Ramapo streets directory for the full address-to-parcel and deed workflow.
This order respects the limits of each source. A tax owner can be an entity or live elsewhere, a voter response is person-specific, and a postal result says nothing about occupancy. The stronger result combines the proper ZIP with the exact address, parcel identifier, and a dated record.
Ramapo ZIP Lookup Fields
The ZIP-capable services documented for Ramapo have different search modes. The table is useful before entering a name or paying for a record because it separates a delivery answer from a parcel, license, registration, or last-known-address lead. Neither the assessment PDFs nor the GIS map offer a confirmed ZIP-wide household search. Their role is to connect a known place to a tax or mapping record.
| Official service | ZIP or address mode | What the result means |
|---|---|---|
| USPS ZIP Lookup | Address, city and state, or ZIP | Standardized ZIP and city answer, not person or company confirmation. |
| VoterLookup | County, name, date of birth, address, and ZIP | Person-specific voter and poll-site match, not a ZIP list. |
| DOS Licensee Search | Name plus optional county, city, and ZIP | Active license matches; no residence address field. |
| Rockland GIS | Address or tax ID, then map pan | Parcel and district context, not a ZIP-wide person search. |
| Ramapo assessment roll | PDF, address, or street reading | Owner and tax-parcel rows; no structured ZIP filter located. |
| Unclaimed funds | Last or business name with optional city and ZIP | Last-known-address lead; no dollar value or Social Security number. |
New York's DOS Licensee Search accepts a ZIP alongside name, license type, county, and city, but it is limited to active licenses and does not show a residence address. The NYS unclaimed-funds search can use city and ZIP after a name. It is a last-known-address lead, not proof that a person now lives in a particular Ramapo ZIP code.
Ramapo ZIP Code Boundary Limits
ZIP code boundaries and Town limits do not match. County GIS assigns the parcel to a municipal boundary, road, election district, and other map layers. USPS assigns a delivery label. A deed uses a legal description, which can be metes and bounds, a subdivision lot and block, or a reference to a prior deed. The section-block-lot is often the stable bridge when a street or postal label changes. Keep both the postal line and the parcel identifier in research notes.
- ZIP and ZIP+4
- The five-digit ZIP identifies a broad delivery area. ZIP+4 adds a more specific delivery segment; neither is a legal parcel boundary.
- PO Box ZIP
- A ZIP used for post-office boxes or a mailing route. It can appear on an official mailing address without describing nearby street delivery.
- Unique ZIP
- A code used for one organization or delivery purpose. No such Ramapo ZIP was verified in the research.
- Carrier route
- A mail-delivery grouping used to organize service. It is not a government resident roll or a town boundary.
The County Mapping and GIS office directs address and district research to its map tools. Its data carries a completeness and accuracy disclaimer, so ownership still needs confirmation in the assessment roll and the recorded deed.
Ramapo Parcel Context by ZIP
The Ramapo assessment roll and GIS are the useful local pair after USPS identifies a ZIP. The Town posts final rolls for 2022 through 2026 and says a person may examine another parcel at the Assessor's Office. The roll can show the tax owner, mailing address, assessed value, exemption indicators, and tax identity. The mailing line can belong to an owner elsewhere, a trust, or an estate. It is a locate clue, not a statement that the owner lives at the situs.
Rockland GIS maintains more than 90,000 parcels and has maintained countywide digital tax maps since 1987. The Base Map can show municipal boundaries, roads, public transportation, historic resources, land use, environmental data, topography, and election or political districts. Those layers put a ZIP in geographic context. They do not supply utility customer names or a complete household count. If the portal is temporarily unavailable, use the County GIS contact route or the Assessor's office rather than assuming the parcel cannot be found.
For a recorded ownership question, move from the parcel's SBL to the Rockland County Clerk land-record system. Guest viewing is free; printing requires an account and costs $0.50 per page. The Clerk index and legal description can resolve a mismatch between a ZIP label and a historic address.
Ramapo ZIP Code Historical Labels
Older records often predate a modern postal line or use a village, hamlet, or post-office label instead of Town of Ramapo. The County Archives map index covers 1798 through 1940, while the 1876 Rockland Atlas, 1891 Hudson Valley Atlas, and 1921 Suffern Sanborn sheets help bridge roads and development. GIS historic aerials are available for listed years from 1958 through 2001. These sources help identify a road, building footprint, or subdivision, but they do not identify an occupant by themselves.
Reverse directories, telephone books, newspaper microfilm, and local maps are the next route when a modern ZIP code does not fit an old address. Suffern and New City library collections may index a place under a postal city different from today's label. Search the street spelling, cross street, former owner, and legal description together. Preserve the historic wording rather than silently replacing it with a modern ZIP, then compare it with the current parcel map.
Note: No official Ramapo street-renumbering project or year was located, so an apparent change should be tested with maps, SBL, deed description, and road aliases.
Ramapo ZIP Directory Safeguards
Postal information narrows geography, but it has legal and practical limits. Voter registration information is public under Board supervision, yet protected identifiers are withheld and voter-derived data requests require an elections-purpose statement. The New York State Address Confidentiality Program can protect an eligible participant's physical address through a substitute address. A missing name or mismatched postal label is not evidence that a person is absent from Ramapo.
New York Freedom of Information Law can obtain existing agency records, subject to exemptions, but it does not require an office to create a ZIP-based list or disclose a protected address. Submit a focused request to the keeper with the record type, date range, address or SBL, format, and desired delivery. For a town parcel, contact the Assessor; for a map layer, use GIS; for an old deed, consult the County Clerk or Archives; and for a voter question, use the Board of Elections.
